What Drift Fitness is All About
Drift Fitness is a fun, relaxing, and challenging way to focus on stabilization and strengthening your mind and body
Blue Mind
Relaxing is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of working out, but add some bright blue water and a SUP board and you can’t help, but feel zen even while doing mountain climbers. “Contact with water induces a meditative state that makes us happier, healthier, calmer, more creative, and more capable of awe,” explains Delhi-based therapist Dr Sreeja De.
Come have a Blue Mind experience and enjoy the waters healing power with us.
Confidence
You can do this! Learning something new in a safe nonjudgmental environment is a confidence builder. We want women to feel empowered to get out there and do all the things they think they “can’t” do, or wish they always could do. Drift fitness is a way to build not only physical strength but mental strength. We want women to see their resilience and have a no fear of failure attitude. It’s all part of the Drift!
Connection
We want you to connect with yourself, others and the environment around you during your time with us. We hope to help you, put you first. We also hope you find connection with other like minded participants as you all go about drifting and navigating your own currents of life.
Drifting
We want your journey to a healthier, stronger, happier, more empowered you to be a gentle one. With so many extreme fitness and diet plans bombarding us daily we want to help you love yourself where you are at today and gently Drift to the next stage with patience, sustainable tools, and appreciation for your body.
Frequently Asked Questions
Catch Our Drift!
What is sup?
Stand Up Paddling (SUP) involves you, a paddleboard, and a paddle. Low impact movement helps to strengthen the core, improve coordination, and build endurance. Sitting, kneeling, or standing, you can take your paddleboard practice to whatever end of the spectrum you wish: chill or challenging.
What is sup fitness?
Stand Up Paddle board Fitness is the best of both worlds: jump on a board, hit the water, and get ready to workout. Your certified SUP Fitness instructor will lead you through a core strength and stabilization class on a paddle board…where you can enjoy being outside on the water and get a workout in.
What should i wear?
What you are comfortable working out and possibly getting wet in. We prefer bathing suits for paddling, shorts or capris for fitness, and enough gear to protect our skin from the sun. While you are thinking about it, you might want to check out our awesome Drift & Co. clothing options here!
what if im not in shape or a good swimmer?
No worries! Being in shape is not a requirement, the whole point is to improve from wherever we are currently at and Drift to the next point. An open mind is required though! We are all about modifying and amplifying to every Drifters ability. So, if you’re a runner with tight hamstrings or a computer-desk-worker with sore shoulders, we’ll help you out. No judgment!
Swimming is important. You want to feel comfortable enough in the event that you take a dip in the deep end of a pool or need to retrieve your board in the river. We suggest if you are not a strong swimmer that you wear your PFD at all times on the river or request the shallow end of the pool, depending on where your class is being held.
Additionally your SUP instructor is certified by the World Paddle Association (WPA) in water safety education and CPR.
will i get wet?
Most likely. When Stand Up Paddling or doing SUP Fitness, our feet (and sometimes up to our knees) get wet. When working out on the board, the only likelihood you’ll fall in is if you’re really pushing your edge and challenging yourself, or if you forget to engage that all important core We welcome a little splashing, and you may just want to after a sweaty workout.
what do i bring?
We’ve got boards, paddles, and all the gear. We suggest bringing a towel, a change of clothes, sunglasses, and some water.
We suggest leaving the following at either home, the pool deck, or on the shore: cell phone, camera, expensive sunglasses (trust us on this one!), watch, baseball caps (try one of our hats instead—they float!). Basically anything you couldn’t live without shouldn’t come on the board.
We will help you at the end of class to get that amazing selfie of your fun adventure with us to share with others so don’t worry that you will miss out on that picture perfect moment by leaving your phone behind.
